The Sims 4 is Completely Free for a Limited Time Only

Chris Wray

Are you interested in The Sims 4, yet don't actually own it yet? No? Okay, I won't bother you then. Wait, I will bother you, because why wouldn't I let you know that you can get a game absolutely free. I'm nice like that.

In this case, EA is giving away a game that is all about tormenting and messing with the lives of the little people. Let's call it Theresa May: The Game. Or, maybe, The Truman Show. You can grab a copy of The Sims 4 for absolutely free right now, until the 28th of May.

Now, I bought The Sims 4 when it was released and was pretty disappointed with it. It lacked content found in previous titles, being pretty bare-bones, to say the least. That has changed over time, with EA actually having added in some content through free updates. To get the full experience, though, you're still going to have to spend quite a bit of money.

Currently, there are six expansion packs at £34.99 each, seven game packs at £17.99 each and fourteen stuff packs at £9.99 each. While the free week for the base Sims 4 game is ongoing, you can create your own bundle by choosing one of each, costing £44.97 rather than the base price of £62.97.

Still, at the base price of bugger all, you're not likely to find a better time to jump in and be a cruel, omnipotent, deity that has a keen eye for interior decoration. As much as I'm not pleased with the way EA went about releasing The Sims 4 and then monetising the living hell out of it, I'm still enamoured with the game and what very little of the added content I've bought.

Naturally, you need an Origin account to obtain your free copy and once you've got it, it's yours for life.
