4 million Apple iPhone 4S sold in three days

I bet you, like the million others were expecting a radical design change, gigantic screen with increased resolution or even more color choice than the available black and white. Instead what we got was more of an internal makeover and a slightly update iOS. Many called it the death of Apple, the end of Apple, the funeral of Apple, heck many blamed the 4S for the death of Steve Jobs. However if Steve were alive right now, he, like all other Apple employees would be grinning over the latest press release from Apple because according to the Cupertino giant, the iPhone 4S has sold more than 4 million copies in 3 days. Now I don't have exact figures for the Galaxy S2, but 4 million in 3 days is an impressive feat especially considering many were ready to crucify Apple over this phone. Sure go ahead blame the figures on the fact that the iPhone 4S is backed up by three times the amount of carriers than the iPhone 4 was but when you take into account that iPhone 4S is only available in a handful of countries at the moment, namely US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, and the UK; the 4 million in volume suddenly seems even larger. By the end of this month more than 28 countries will be carrying the phone, and by the end of this year, nearly 70. Expect 4 million to be dwarfed.

And were you one those poor souls who had to wait nearly a whole day in order to get your iOS 5 update? Well that's partly due to the 25 million people suddenly swarming the Apple servers in the first 3 days to get a taste of the new OS. You can never have enough bandwidth to satisfy 25 million people in 3 days. Needless to say despite whatever the skeptics said, the iPhone 4S has been a raving success, and it hasn't even been 2 weeks since its release. It has already broken sales records for Sprint and it's on its way to break even more worldwide. Steve Jobs is no longer amongst us, but wherever he is, I'm sure he'd be pleased.
