HTC releases official statement regarding Android Ice Cream Sandwich update

Android 4.0 was revealed only a day ago and already questions are being asked as to when we can start seeing our beloved smartphones getting the taste of Ice Cream Sandwich. Sony Ericsson has already confirmed their Xperia lineup from 2011 will be getting the update, although no date was given. What about HTC? Those who've recently bought the Sensation or booked the Sensation XL would surely want to know when their 'new' smartphone can get the Android 4.0 update. Here's what HTC has to say about it all:

We are excited about the latest update for Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, and are currently reviewing its features and functionality to determine our upgrade plans. Our goal for Android updates is to give every customer an improved user experience, which means balancing each phone's unique hardware, HTC Sense experience and the Android kernel. While our goal is to upgrade as many of our recent devices as possible, we are committed to maintaining every phone's performance and usability first. Please stay tuned for more updates on specific device upgrade plans.

A typical press conference-ish kind of reply in my opinion. Basically what they mean is that they have no idea when they will start rolling the update. We've seen Ice Cream Sandwich first hand and it's beautiful. However HTC isn't willing to let go of Sense UI. Sense has been responsible for a lot of update delays in the past and it looks like it will be this time around as well. But you knew that when you signed up to get an HTC, right?
