Super Mario Maker 2, Crash Team Racing, and Switch Top Retro-Tastic June NPD Charts

Super Mario Maker 2

The NPD Group have released their full North American sales data for June 2019, and it was another down month for the industry. Consumers spent $959 million on games and hardware, down 13 percent from June 2018. The big reason for this decline was sputtering hardware sales, which were down a whopping 33 percent year-on-year.

It wasn’t all bad news on the hardware front -- the Switch continues to sell well, coming out on top in June and the first half of 2019, but Nintendo’s success isn’t enough to make up for the slumping Xbox One and PS4. As for software, the charts were topped by the retro-flavored Super Mario Maker 2 and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat 11, which topped both April and May, held strong at the #3 position.
