Over these past few days, several leaks for Google's upcoming Pixel 4 smartphones have surfaced. As is the case with most leaks, these too are in the form of renders and screen protectors. Google will make crucial changes on the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL; changes that will bring the devices on par with this year's flagship smartphones. Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL Screen Protectors And Renders Confirm Thick Bezels And Important Front Camera Upgrade
With smartphone manufacturers needing to wait another year before 5nm chipsets are official, this year we'll get amazing camera upgrades on every high-end gadget. Apple's iPhones 11 will finally make the jump to a triple rear camera setup, and Korean tech giant Samsung will continue to play with ToF (Time-of-Flight) camera sensors on the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus.
Now, with details for the Pixel 4 lineup starting to solidify, we suspect that Google might also include a ToF sensor on the smartphones' front. Samsung did it with the Galaxy S10 5G, and if you look at the screen protectors for Google's smartphones below and compare them with the front of the 5G S10, then you'll see that their camera cutouts are eerily similar.
Of course, Samsung's high-end laser-drilled displays have the cutout right inside the panel, but visually, cutouts for both the S10 5G and the Pixels 4 are remarkably similar. Additionally, the square housing for the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL's rear camera sensors appears once again in today's renders. Google's already confirmed this feature, so this in itself isn't a big reveal. We'd love to have details for the specifications of these sensors leak from the supply chain, as so far, the good folks at XDA developers are the only ones with the details.
They've revealed that one of the rear sensors will be a Telephoto lens, and at the front, we'll also get an IR sensor. Additionally, the Pixel 3's front wide-angle and regular sensors will also make it on the Pixels 4.
