We'll show you how you can download and install iOS 13 on your iPhone right now without losing any of your files or settings.

Personally, I always go for the clean install route as it gives me the maximum performance benefit of any major OS I might be upgrading to. But of course, if it's a small point update, then going ahead with the over the air route is a no-brainer.

Not everyone wants to deal with device backups and restoration, that's why the over the air method of installing iOS 13 will be the obvious choice for millions of users out there. It's quick, easy, and it usually never fails, until or unless you have a slightly shoddy internet connection.

Today, we'll show you how to install iOS 13 right on your iPhone without losing any files or settings.

Note: Despite me mentioning that you don't need to create a backup of your data. I will still recommend that you do it in case you need to downgrade later on.

Please make sure you have a supported iOS 13 device. Check the list below:

  • iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPod touch 7th-generation

1. Make sure your iPhone has 50% or more battery. If it doesn't then connect it to a power source.

2. Connect to WiFi. You can do so by going to Settings > WiFi.

3. Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update.

4. After a few seconds, the iOS 13 update will show right up. Tap on the Download and Install button below. You might be required to enter your iPhone's passcode.

The update will now start to download onto your device. Once done, it will be processed, installed and verified with Apple. That's it, that's how you install iOS 13 over the air without losing your files or settings.

Once the installation is complete you can start using your iPhone as you normally would. No need to go through fancy Hello screens or whatever.

Just a quick tip: after the installation is complete, it's best to leave your iPhone alone for at least an hour. Just leave it plugged in to the charger so that things can settle down a bit on the new firmware.
