New Combo of Hardware and Software Will Help to Monitor Battery Usage and Prevent Unnecessary Degradation
The iPhone 11 features a new software and hardware battery management system that minimizes the effects of an aging battery on the performance of the device. This system monitors the power requirements of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max in real-time and manages performance accordingly. This automatic system is always on and works round the clock to optimize performance in relation to the withering battery. The important details have been published on the company’s support page.

Since the Cupertino giant received criticism for slowing down the iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, and iPhone 7, it introduced a new power management hardware on the iPhone 8 series and the iPhone X previously. This year, the company has improved the system even further by adding a software element.
However, even though Apple has devised a system to mitigate the effects of an older battery on the performance of the phones, the results will not be lasting and ultimately the health of the battery might create issues such as longer launch ties for apps, reduce data throughput, lower frame rates, and lowered speaker volume.
Apple’s iOS 13 update also includes a nifty feature which stops the iPhone from charging more than 80 percent unless needed. The science behind this is that lithium-ion cells last longer if they aren’t charged above 80 percent. Together the iPhone 11 features and the new smart battery management system will hopefully mitigate the effect of batteries on the phone’s performance as they age. Needless to say, this will be a welcome change and help users cling to their older devices for even longer.
