Apple Releases iOS 12.4.2 and watchOS 5.3.2 for Older iPhone and Apple Watch Models

Even though Apple has released iOS 13 to users across the globe, the company has released a new update for devices which do not support the latest firmware. That's right, Apple has released iOS 12.4.2 and watchOS 5.3.2 for older iPhone and Apple Watch models. Let's dive in to see what Apple has included in the latest update.

Apple Seeds iOS 12.4.2 and watchOS 5.3.2 for Older Devices

Apple's iOS 12.4.2 release is oriented towards the original iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad mini 3 and the sixth-generation iPod touch. All of the aforementioned devices do not support the latest iOS 13 update. The update can be downloaded over-the-air by opening the General section in the Settings app and then tapping Software Update.

As for what the new iOS 12.4.2 update brings for older iPhone models is unclear at this stage. Most likely, the build that adds important bug fixes for older devices. Apple's release notes say that the new update "includes improvements, provides important security updates, and is recommended for all users." In addition, the security support document indicates that the update fixes a vulnerability which could potentially allow a remote attacker to cause application termination unexpectedly.

As for watchOS 5.3.2, the build is designed for the Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2. The latest build can be installed on the compatible Apple Watch models by going to the dedicated Apple Watch app on your iPhone and then navigating to General > Software Update. As for what it brings is similar to the changes Apple has implemented in iOS 12.4.2 for iPhone.

iOS 13 brings quite a boatload of new additions to the table, like Dark Mode and numerous privacy features. Furthermore, it also improves the overall user experience.
