Apple has released iOS 13.2 and iPadOS 13.2 developer beta 2. This update has a number of improvements and changes covering performance, UI updates, and more. Here is a list of all the new features and changes we have found in beta 2 so far.
Along with iOS 13.2 and iPadOS beta 2, Apple also released tvOS 13.2 beta 2 and watchOS 6.1 beta 3. At the time of writing, the public beta for these updates was not released.
Note: iPad Pro 11 users have been experiencing issues with the upgrade, including yours truly. The update might leave your iPad Pro bricked. A force restart might fix it. If that doesn't help, download the complete firmware from Apple Developer Center, put your iPad Pro in DFU mode and update via Finder/iTunes.
iOS 13.2 beta 2
Apple's releases notes for this update do not mention anything except the following resolved issue with NFC:
- Fixed an issue which prevented reading certain TypeA–based electronic IDs on iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. (55880800)
However, despite a missing changelog, and thanks to the Internet, we have been able to dig around and find a number of interesting new changes. Here is everything we have found so far while using iOS 13.2 beta on iPhone:
- Performance is much better than beta 1, or any previous iOS 13.x release. It is very obvious when you swipe up to go to multitasking or switch between apps.
- Camera app in iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro now supports changing video capture resolution and frame rate, right from within the app. Finally! However, it's ridiculous that this is only available for iPhone 11 models and not older ones.
- The Haptic touch menu on home screen has been updated. It now allows deleted the app right from the menu. The rearrange apps option has also been renamed to 'Edit Home Screen'. This is the option which allows you to move the app icons around on the home screen.
- 'Hide Link Previews' option has been removed from the Haptic touch menu and moved to the top of the preview as 'Hide preview'. This is subjective but it looks better now.
- Music app has received some much needed attention. The Haptic Touch menu items have been rearranged yet again and this is the best arrangement since the menu was introduced. The changes are visible for both songs and albums.
- There is a nice little shuffling animation when you shuffle music now.

- A number of new Emojis have been added to this release. Apple had announced these back in July on World Emoji Day. These new Emojis are based on Unicode 12.0 standard, and add diversity, food, animals and other emojis to the collection.
- You can now change the skin tones for an even wider range of emojis.
- Following the Siri debacle when Apple was caught listening to Siri conversations without consent, Apple had suspended the whole program and promised to add options to make it opt-in through a software update. iOS 13.2 beta 2 has these options, located in Settings > Privacy > Analytics & Improvements and Settings > Siri & Search. The former allows you to disable analytics for good, while the latter allows you to delete your Siri conversation history from Apple's servers. You also see a Splash screen when upgrading to iOS 13.2 beta 2, during setup. Apple still does not allow you to listen to your conversations though, which is an option provided by Google and Alexa.
- The TV app now has an 'Add' button on the top right, instead of the confusing old button which did the same thing but wasn't obvious enough.
