Bloodborne remains to this day one of the most remarkable games released in this console generation. The PlayStation 4 exclusive developed by FROM Software married the Souls gameplay formula with a unique dark horror setting.
In an interview with Gamespot Brazil during the BGS 2019 convention, creator Hidetaka Miyazaki said Bloodborne is still his favorite game. He also talked a bit about the creative inspirations he had.
That is a very difficult question, and by comparison, it is as if you have three or four children and someone asks 'which one is prettier?'. I will answer that they are all. But if I were to say which one stayed in my heart, it's Bloodborne. It is what most struck me. I believe I did it my way, the way I wanted it.
[...] I would have improved the part of the Chalice Dungeons and the Blood Gems, which I would like to have detailed them and worked more thoroughly. I see the possibility of adding more things.
I was inspired by Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu. Probably who played Bloodborne will know that I was quite influenced by Lovecraft and this work. Other things that greatly influenced me were the logical horror and the movie Brotherhood of the Wolf.
Miyazaki also picked his favorite boss fight out of all his games: Old Monk from Demon's Souls.
Speaking of bosses, probably Old Monk, from Demon's Souls. This boss has a different system where the player will face other players. And at that time, this was not a common system, so I received some criticism and warnings. But in the end, the user really liked it, it was something quite different. So inside me is what most struck me.
