See is set in a world 600 years in the future, where only 2 million people are left on earth, due to a deadly virus. The people who are left alive are blind and have to survive without any technology. Think of it as a post-apocalyptic era where technology of the past is useless and human beings have gone back to tribal tools. The story is based around the birth of two babies, have who have the ability to see, which causes a clash between the survivors as they believe that having sight will cause chaos and threaten their existence.

In their interview with Emmy magazine, the producers had the following to say:

"When something new arrives to threaten the status quo, what will happen to that status quo? In that journey is an epic, world-building adventure. Can it be as epic as, say, a Game of Thrones? We answer that question early on with a resounding 'yes!'"

The interview goes into detail on how the actors were excited to sign up for the show after reading the script. Some interesting tidbits are shared which gives insights into how the actors had to train by wearing sleep shades, to rely on other senses. There was also a consultant onboard to ensure that the blindness portrayed in the show was based on realism. Many decisions were based on how actual people with blindness deal with things like clothes and movement. The show creators also hired several of actors with low-vision and blindness for a number of roles.
