MSI Optix G27C4 is a Curved, Light-Weight, 165Hz Monitor That Is Worth A Look

Evan Federowicz

The MSI Optix G27C4 is an amazing monitor with a 165Hz refresh and 1ms response time, that is featured on a 27-inch curved display, this sounds too good to be true! The caveat of this monitor is that the max resolution of 1080p, while most high-end monitors are 1440p resolution.

MSI Optix G27C4 at 165Hz, with a contrast 3,000 to 1, is a pretty amazing monitor, even if it's only at 1080p resolution.

Yes, the G27C4 is at the max resolution of 1080p, now while that may be a deal-breaker for some, with the smaller size of 27-Inch and the curved screen, this monitor is seemingly a good screen for your gaming rig.

Some features that this monitor has are:

  • Blue Light Reduction
    • This feature reduces the amount of blue light emitted by the MSI Optix G27C4, this feature allows you to game for longer periods of time without eye fatigue.
  • 178 Degrees of Wide Viewing Angles
    • These large wide viewing angles allow the color and details to remain un-altered even with the wider angles.
  • Anti-Flicker Technology
    • Most monitors normally have a flicker-rate of roughly 200-times per second, which while not noticeable to the human eye, will cause eye-fatigue over time.
  • AMD Adaptive Sync
    • Adaptive Sync syncs the monitors refresh rate with the frames that are created by the AMD GPU, this is also called FreeSync, which is only available for AMD GPUs.
  • 165Hz Refresh rate
    • The 165Hz monitor gives you an amazingly smooth experience and gives you a competitive edge over other slower rate monitors on the market currently.
  • Curved Monitor
    • The Curve of 1500R while not harsh enough to cause any discomfort and subtle enough that brings a more immersive experience to gaming.

With all these features available this is seemingly an amazing deal for a 1080p 165Hz monitor if priced correctly, while I couldn't find the MSI Optix G27C4 on any of the retailers listed from the MSI website. I could only find the monitor of MSI G27C2 which retailed at a price point of $250. If this monitor is priced close to that price point I would have to suggest the Optix MAG271R, You get all the features of the MSI G27C4, except the Curved screen.
