iPhone 11 Pro Max Suffering As Apple Cuts Down OLED Orders

iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are brand names a case maker believes Apple will use

Forced by poor upgrade cycles, Apple made a new addition to the iPhone lineup last year. The iPhone XR, with an LCD display, mirrored the larger iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max design-wise, but it lacked in the camera sensor and RAM department. This year Apple has chosen to stay the course with an affordable iPhone, and with the iPhone 11, the trick finally seems to be working.

The iPhones 11 Pro differ from the iPhone 11 through the simple additions of an ultra-wide-angle lens and an OLED display. The two components give their display output and photography a big boost. When this boost is combined with the tailor-made A13 chip, it justifies the price difference between the highest-end iPhone 11 and the base iPhone 11 Pro.

Apple Boosts LCD Orders For iPhone 11 & Cuts Down Those For iPhone 11 Pro Max Suggests Report

When we look at the three 2019 iPhones, only the iPhone 11 Pro Max is the gadget truly designed to serve professional users' needs. While it and the iPhone 11 are carbon copies of each other spec-wise, a larger OLED display is often sufficient to make a smartphone solve a lot of problems for heavy-duty users.

The iPhone 11 Pro, on the other hand, is for the everyday 'prosumer'. A 7nm chip combined with telephoto, wide and ultrawide sensors and an OLED display is sufficient to last an average Joe for a couple of years - until 5G becomes the norm.

iPhone 11 Launch Saw Apple’s Market Share Rise in Several Regions, Except U.S.

Today, Digitimes is out with a fresh report allegedly from Apple's supply chain. The report suggests that Apple expected more people to prefer the largest iPhone this year, as they did when the company first launched the iPhone 6 Plus. However, this isn't the case, as market performance has forced Apple to increase display panel orders for the iPhone 11 and cut them down for the iPhone 11 Pro Max, according to the supply chain.  Apple has different suppliers for the two displays - with the Cupertino tech giant's OLEDs coming from Samsung.

Apple has already been forecasted to ship more iPhones 11 this year by TF International's Ming-Chi Kuo. The analyst believes that Apple will ship an estimated 45-50 million iPhones this quarter, and close to half of these will be the courtesy of the iPhone 11 alone. Thoughts?
