You Can Change Your FaceTime Caller ID to Your Email or Phone Number Whenever You Want
By default, FaceTime will show your phone number as the caller ID whenever you initiate a call to someone. Meaning if you make a FaceTime call right now to someone, whether audio or video, your phone number will show up on the other person's iPhone, iPad and Mac. If that is something you don't want to reveal and wish to switch over to your email instead, then you can switch your FaceTime caller ID to email as well.
Change FaceTime Caller ID on iPhone and iPad
Note: FaceTime must be enabled on your iPhone and iPad for this to work. You can do so by going to Settings > FaceTime and turn the FaceTime switch to the ON position.
Step 1. Launch the Settings app.
Step 2. Scroll down to FaceTime and tap on it.
Step 3. Now scroll down and you will see the Caller ID section.
Step 4. Select the email address you wish to display or any other phone number if you have it set to FaceTime. Once done just go back to the home screen and initiate a FaceTime call. Your caller ID will be the one which you just selected.
If you wish to keep your phone number private at all times then switching over to your email address is the way to go for FaceTime audio and video calls. Interestingly, you even have the option to set which phone number and email can be used to reach you for FaceTime. You can even take things a notch further by only receiving FaceTime calls on your email and show your phone number as your FaceTime caller ID. You can mix and match things the way you want until you end up with the right recipe for yourself.
