Metal Gear Solid HD Collection On Vita This Summer

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection released last November to praise from critics and a great reception from fans. Originally developed by Kojima Productions, MGS2: Sons of Liberty, MGS3: Snake Eater and MGS: Peace Walker were ported over to PS3 and Xbox 360 by Bluepoint Games, who are also responsible for other great HD Collections for Ico/Shadow Of The Colossus and the God Of War set. But now, they are going to deliver the Metal Gear Solid experience for Sony's new handheld, PlayStation Vita.

So what's so special about this Collection? Well, there's the "transfarring" feature for starters, which allows people to continue their PS3 save games on the Vita and vice versa, so you'll be able to continue playing even if you have to leave the comforts of your home.

There's really not much to be said about the games, as anyone who's familiar with PS2 will remember the impact Sons Of Liberty and Snake Eater had on gamers. Sons Of Liberty had you infiltrating an oil clean-up facility named the Big Shell, which had been taken over by terrorists. Snake Eater went back in time to the Cold War era to rescue a scientist and to destroy the precursor to the Metal Gear machines. Also present are the two original Metal Gears from the MSX Home Computers.

Strangely, absent from the Vita's version of the HD Collection is the MGS: Peace Walker which debuted on the original PSP and then found it's way onto the major home consoles with the HD Collection. This might be a deal breaker for some consumers as Peace Walker has yet to be enjoyed by many a gamers. But maybe in the near future, it will wind up in the Playstation Store. But for now, fans will have to do without it.

So what do you think? Will Peace Walker's absence have any effect on the Collection's sales? Are HD Collections necessary for Vita and PS3? Discuss below!
