File Explorer in Windows was once called the Windows Explorer. It is a convenient file-management application and is used very regularly. It is used so regularly that I am pretty sure many of you use it without even giving it a second thought. It has a lot of uses, including moving, copying, renaming, and deleting files. There are multiple ways that you can access File Explorer in Windows 10, and I am going to show you all of them.

You can try all these ways and pick the one that you like the best. I always use the Taskbar shortcut out of habit. Which one would you use?

1) Taskbar Shortcut:

This is perhaps the easiest one. On the bottom of your desktop is a taskbar that shows multiple pinned apps. The File Explorer icon is one of them. Just click on it, and it will open the app.

2) Start Menu Search

Go to the Start Menu and type File Explorer in the search bar. Click Open.

You can do this the long way as well. Go to the Start Menu and scroll all the way down to ‘W’. Click on Windows System and select File Explorer.

4) Win + X

Press the Win + X keys on your Keyboard. On the left side of your screen, a list of shortcut items will appear. Click on File Explorer to open the app.

5) Desktop Shortcut

You can create a desktop shortcut to access it quickly as well. Go to the Start Menu and scroll down all the way to 'W'. Click on Windows System and locate the File Explorer Option. Once you do, click on it, drag the option to your desktop, and create a shortcut. You can then access it directly from your desktop whenever you want.

6) Run Box

Press Win + R keys on your keyboard. Once you do, a small box will appear on the bottom left corner of your screen. Type explorer in the search bar in the box and press OK. This will launch the app.

7) Task Manager

Task Manager is another beneficial application in Windows 10. You can use it to access explorer as well. Press the Ctrl + Shift + ESC keys on your keyboard. This will open up the Task Manager. This is what you will see on your screen:

At the top of the Task Manager app, click on File and click on the Run new task option.

Once you do, another box will appear. Type explorer in the search bar and click OK. This will launch the File Explorer.

8) Shortcut Keys

Shortcut keys are a blessing, and once you get the hang of them, you get addicted to using them. You eventually forget what the usual way of accessing applications was. Press the Win + E keys on your keyboard, and this will launch the explorer.

9) Command Prompt

There are multiple ways to launch a command prompt if you don’t know how to follow these instructions. Press Win + R to open the Run box. In the search bar in the box, type cmd. Click OK.

Once you do, it will launch a prompt as below. Type cmd and press enter.

10) Powershell
Go to the Start menu and type Powershell in the search bar. Click Open.
