Even before Windows 11 is released, a lot of people are eager to try it out. So, people are rushing to install the beta and dev versions. However, as it can be expected that the beta and dev version installation can cause many errors, it isn’t all smooth sailing. The most common type of error that users are currently facing is the Green Screen of Death. In this tutorial, I will address this and show you how to fix the Green Screen of Death error in Windows 11.
Fix Green Screen of Death Error
The Green Screen of Death (GSOD) isn’t very different from the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). The Green screen error appears for Insider Preview builds, and it stops the PC from functioning correctly.
Update Drivers
The first thing that you should do is to make sure that your graphics card driver is updated. If you have an Nvidia graphics card, visit this link and install the latest graphic card. If you have an AMD graphics card, then visit this link.
Other than that, you can update the-on board graphics card by following the steps below:
Step-1: Right-click on the Start menu and locate Device Manager. Click Open.
Step-2: Look for the Display adapters and double-click on the option to expand the option.
Step-3: Right-click on the graphic card that appears when the option expands. Click on Update driver.
Step-4: Select Browse my computer for drivers.
Step-5: Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
Step-6: Select the driver and click on Next.
Step-7: Once the driver has been installed, select Close.
Step-8: Do the above steps for all the available graphic cards individually and Restart your system.
Applications
If you installed a program and the GSOD error appeared after that, there is a possibility that that program is causing a problem. You should uninstall it and see if it fixed the Green Screen error.

External Peripherals
Since Windows 11 is a new OS, many older peripherals that you used for Windows 10 aren’t compatible (by peripherals, I mean devices like Keyboard, Mouse, Printer, etc.) Try disconnecting the peripheral and see if the error is fixed.
Update OS
Since Windows 11 is a new OS and it isn’t exactly bug-free yet. There is a possibility that the error is because of a bug in the OS version. Update the version and see if that works for you.

- Select Windows Update from the left pane.
- Click on Check for updates.
- Install the latest updates available.
- Restart PC.

- Open Settings by pressing the Win + I shortcut keys.
- Select Apps from the left pane.
- Select Apps & Features
- Locate the Antivirus.
- Click on the three vertical dots next to the antivirus. Select Uninstall.

Hardware Acceleration
Windows used hardware acceleration to enhance computer performance. This is a good thing, however, since the OS is very new at this time, it is advisable to turn this feature off in your browser.
- Open Google Chrome.
- Click on the three vertical dots on the top right corner of the window.
- Select Settings.
- Click on the Advanced option to expand it in the left pane.
- Select System in the Advanced section.
- Turn the toggle switch for Use hardware acceleration when available Off.
- Now click on Relaunch.

It is also possible that the updates are messing with the system. If you recently updated and you were with the GSOD, the bug may be in the update.
- Open Settings using shortcut keys Win + I.
- Select Windows Update from the left pane.
- Select Update history in the right pane.
- Select Uninstall updates and the recent install that is causing issues will be uninstalled.
