How to Enable and Use Focus Sessions on Windows 11

If you tend to procrastinate when you have your computer open, then there is a Windows 11 feature that will help you focus on your tasks better. Studies have shown that if you set time limits for yourself, you are less likely to procrastinate. This is what the new Windows 11 feature utilizes. In this tutorial, I will show you how to enable and use focus sessions on Windows 11.

This feature launched in the latest Windows 11 build, and it is very useful if you tend to procrastinate a lot. With this feature, you will set times for tasks, take a timed break, etc. It even allows you to sync your Spotify playlist so you can listen to music while you work.

Enable Focus Sessions on Windows 11

To enable the feature, follow the steps below:

Step-1: Click on the search icon on the taskbar and search Clock. Click Open. This will open the Alarm & Clock app.

Step-2: Click on the Focus sessions tab on the left side of the app.

Step-3: Click on Get started.

Step-4: Select the Sign-in option at the bottom left corner of the screen. Use your Microsoft Account to sign in and accept any terms and conditions presented.

Step-5: Create a task that you wish to do in the task section. Click on Add a Task. Type the task and press Enter.

Step-6: Once you enter the task, you have to select the time. In the Ready, set, focus section, you can select the time you wish to set for this task. It can be anything from 15 mins to 240 mins. Use the arrow keys to change times. [Notice that if you select a time greater than 30 mins, you will have breaks in between. If you wish to complete the task without a break, click on the Skip breaks option]

Step-7: Once you are satisfied with the tasks you have set, click on the blue Start Focus Session option in the Ready, set, focus section.

Once the session starts, you can continue doing your task. If you had selected the break option, you would hear a notification sound when it is time for your break.

You can also continue adding tasks and carrying out focus sessions by following the steps above.

Add Spotify App

There is a Link Spotify section, and you can use it to play your Spotify playlists while you work. However, you will need to ensure that you have your Spotify app downloaded for it to work.

  1.  Click on Link your Spotify.

  2.  Add your details, and you will be logged in.

The app also features a progress panel that allows you to see how productive you were during these sessions and whether it helped improve your task efficiency.
