If you have a limited data plan and are worried about some apps using more data than normal, you can restrict the data usage on your computer. This is helpful because sometimes, internet companies will charge you double the rate if you exceed your existing data limit. This tutorial will show you how to limit internet usage on Windows 11 systems.
Limit Internet Usage on Windows 11
Step-1: Open the Settings app using the shortcut keys Win + I.
Step-2: Select Network & Internet from the left pane.
Step-3: Scroll down and select Advanced network settings.
Step-4: In the More settings section, select Data usage.
Step-5: From the drop-down menu, select the network you want to set a limit for. Now select Enter limit.
Step-6: Change the limit according to your usage and select Save.
As soon as you hit save, you will see the percentage amount you have consumed in the available limit.
BONUS Step: Select the Remove Limit option if you wish to remove the limit. You will be asked to confirm the option, and as soon as you confirm, the limit will be removed.
Reset Limit
If you wish to start from scratch and don’t windows to count the already consumed percentage (like it shows 23% used in the image below), you can reset the limit easily and ensure that the data consumed is counted from the moment you set the limit.
Follow the steps below:
- Open the Settings app using shortcut keys Win + I.
- Select Network & Internet.
- Select Advanced network settings.
- Select Data usage.
- Select the network you want to set the limit for from the drop-down menu.
- Scroll down and select the Reset button next to Reset usage stats.
- You will be asked for confirmation. Select Reset again.
