How to Hard Restart Your Samsung Galaxy Phone

I spent most of my weekend playing Far Cry 6 and enjoying my downtime as anyone would. However, during the evening, I was just exploring my Galaxy S22 Ultra, taking pictures, and editing them right there on my phone using Lightroom when I decided to take the S Pen out; the moment the S Pen came out, the entire phone just decided to freeze, and although I could use some parts of the screen, it simply would not respond to any other interaction and was completely frozen. I could not even turn off the device through the power menu and putting the S Pen back and removing it did absolutely nothing. if you have ever found yourself in a situation like this and wondered how to hard restart your Samsung Galaxy phone, you are at the right spot.

Now, I would like to make it clear beforehand that hard restarting is not the same as hard resetting as it is not going to reset the phone in any way. It will simply restart the phone as you would normally do through the power menu.

Hard Restart Your Samsung Galaxy Phone in Case of Emergencies

The guide to hard restart your Samsung Galaxy phone is not at all complicated, to be honest. Quite the opposite, as it happens to be one of the easiest. Still, for those wondering, I am going to mention a single step below that will guide you.

Again, you should only hard restart your Samsung Galaxy phone in case it hangs up completely because otherwise, there is no purpose to doing so.

Step 1: Unlock your phone and press and hold the volume down power button.

You will need to keep holding the button combination for at least 10 seconds and you will see the phone screen going blank and turning off. Once the screen turns off, the phone should take about 5 to 10 seconds to restart itself and once it restarts, you will be all good to go.

As far as the issue with my Galaxy S22 Ultra is concerned, it did not come back again and I did not really find much information. However, the key combination is definitely something that you can use in such situations where the phone becomes unresponsive. It is true that I could have rebooted the phone using a simple ADB command, but I have ADB disabled on my phone.
