AMD’s New 28nm Richland Chipset Codenamed Bolton

We’ve had AMD’s Trinity APU’s taking up the market by storm this time around and with now what Fudzilla reports of an upcoming new 28nm APU in 2013 that will bring us a few new features onto the table. Prepare yourselves for the AMD Richland.

The Richland Chip or rather codenamed ‘Bolton FCH’, the chipset is set to support up to eight SATA 6GB/s devices with an additional 4 USB 3.0 ports and 14 USB 2.0 ports.

The higher end Bolton D4 will come with RAID 0/1/5 and 10 support coupled with only PCI-e 4x support. On the other hand, the good news for graphics fanatics that this comes with support for dual CrossFire graphics which will allow you to match your discrete graphics card with the Richland’s APU graphics.

Packaging wise for the chipset is 656 FCBGA with the TDP set at 7.8W, which is quite similar to the currently available AMD A75 chipset.
