Finally there is some great news for our Aussie friends who opted to go for Samsung Galaxy S III on Telstra. According to AusDroid, the much-awaited official Android 4.1 Jellybean OS update is now over the air and will be prompting you anytime now! The update weighs 295 MB so it is advised that you are connected over a high-speed internet connected to get it downloaded and installed in an optimum manner. 
Lately, Telstra’s crowd support forum has also endorsed the Update going live for all Samsung Galaxy S III owners. According to the official crowd support forum statement, made by some official ( we guess), the update has been made live since 2:30 PM EDT today. The post further explains that deployment of the live update means that it will take around a week for it to reach all S3 phones on the network. The week roll-out plan for the Android 4.1 Jellybean update is:
The deployment schedule is:
Day 1-3 : 10k of devices selected at random to be eligible for update, users are either alerted via FOTA Push Message or by manually checking
Day 4-13: An additional 10% of devices are selected per day
Day 14: All devices are now eligible for update
The FOTA update should be downloaded via Wi-Fi as data usage charges will apply if downloaded via the mobile network.The update will be available to all customers via Kies from 2:30PM EDT Wednesday 19 December.
In case you can’t wait for the update to be made available OTA, you can also sync your phone with the latest KIES version and get the update straight away.
