Apple iOS 7 vs Android 4.4 KitKat – Features and Release Dates

Apple has just sent out its invitations for the September 10th iPhone event; on the other hand Android SVP tweeted - on exactly the same day - about Android 4.4 KitKat. With smartphone tech giants playing some real counter strike, we are more interested in knowing the features that we should expect from the upcoming OS of both the Apple and the Android.

Apple plans to unveil its iOS 7 on September 10th along with iPhone 5S, 5C and iPad 5. iOS 7 is expected to be available on the 20th of this month. Google on the other hand has still to talk about confirmed release dates of its upcoming operating system. Remember, it has been more than a year since Google released its last major Android 4.1 Jelly Bean system update. While the internet was expecting Google to announce its Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie this October, it surprised all the fans and analysts with a picture announcing Android 4.4 KitKat.

In this Apple iOS 7 vs Android 4.4 KitKat war, let's see who is up ahead the game!

Android 4.4 KitKat:

There haven't been many credible news bits about the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie (now, Android 4.4 KitKat). However, a few sources have suggested that the next Android update will not feature high-end specs in an attempt to accommodate to more devices. Devices like gaming consoles, smart watch, and other electronics might be powered with the next Android OS. We can't be sure though if Google will bring in such major updates with an incremental release (incremental in digits, not the name - Google has got us all confused!).

This upcoming Android has gone through "Kandy Kane" to "Key Lime Pie" to now the official name Android 4.4 KitKat. Numerous rumors have been suggesting October as the release month for the latest Android update. Looking at the history too, summer and the fall have been likely release dates for Google's OS.

iOS 7:

Set to be released on September 10th, 2013, iOS 7 will be featuring a flatter design, Control Center, AirDrop, and iTunes Radio. Some rumors have been hinting at Apple's preparation of releasing its iOS 7 Gold Master. While there are no confirmed news about iOS 7 Gold Master, the final version of iOS 7 is very much likely to be available for download on 20th Sept, at least for the iPhone. It is still unknown if Apple will release the latest iOS for iPad this September or would it wait for the release of new iPads in October.
