Ubisoft is also releasing some of the best initial titles for the next-gen consoles. Watch Dogs, The Crew, The Division and Assassin’s Creed IV: Blackflag are the most anticipated up coming game titles by Ubisoft. People have their hopes high, they want the best from Ubisoft and it seems like Ubisoft is also planning to provide its customers and fans with the best.
Ubisoft Gathering Attention – Welcoming Next-Gen Consoles First Hand
Where the discussions and hype grows for the next-gen consoles, the games are also getting very high public attention because after all, at the end it is the game that matters. Public wants everything to be perfect in the next generation of gaming. Developers and manufacturers have probably never previously experienced this much of a crowd standing ready to test what they throw at it. At this point even a slight mistake is also noticeable.
Ubisoft has been going good with its business for quite some time. It gave some of the most sold and liked games on current generation consoles. Far Cry 3 got various game of the year 2012 awards. In my opinion, it also deserved it. But now its all about what is coming ahead. Ubisoft’s scheme for its soon to be released titles looks quite firm. Ubisoft is marketing a lot, it keeps talking about the games and promises to deliver the best.
Ubisoft's Next-Gen Gaming Titles
Ubisoft’s private event, Ubiday 2013 was held in Akihabara, Tokyo on October 20th, 2013. With the announcement of a couple of digital-games, Ubisoft also discussed these four games. Assassin’s Creed IV: Blackflag is going to be a new installment in the renowned Assassin’s Creed franchise so it won’t really give Ubisoft a hard time. As for the new IP’s, Ubisoft does not look much worried for it. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has already said in an interview:
"It's a lot less risky for us to create new IPs and new products when we're in the beginning of a new generation, our customers are very open to new things. Our customers are reopening their minds and they are really going after what's best. At the end of a console generation, they want new stuff, but they don't buy new stuff as much. They know their friends will play Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed so they go for that. So the end of a cycle is very difficult."
This means Ubisoft is welcoming the next generation of consoles. Guillemot, however has stated at different places that the life span of seventh generation consoles was very long, manufacturers should keep the market alive by making hardware right at time.
Delaying The New IP's Greatly Hurts Ubisoft
Despite of all this, Ubisoft faced a drop of 32 percent in its shares. This is the biggest drop of shares in the history of the company. The loss is predicted to be of $54 million by March 2014. All this is because of the delay in release of The Crew and Watch Dogs. The delay according to Ubisoft was made for providing the customers with the best quality of work. The crew and Watch Dogs was not ready and so Ubisoft took the risk of delaying it, just to provide its customers with complete polished games rather than giving them unfinished rough games. Ubisoft Plans on selling 6 million copies of Watch dogs when it will be released on its new unspecified date.
If Ubisoft is really planning to give the best to its customers, then this loss might recover with the release of both the games. I think Ubisoft is putting in a lot of efforts to provide gamers with satisfactory games. Ubisoft is taking full advantage of the next-gen consoles and this might save it from going down.
