NVIDIA announced their new GeForce GTX 780 Ti graphics card at the GeForce Event in Montreal which has been said as the fastest graphic card to date. While NVIDIA themselves did not mention anything related to the pricing and specifications of their card, Fudzilla has received some information which details that the GeForce GTX 780 Ti would end up faster than the GeForce GTX Titan.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Will Be Faster Than The Titan
The GeForce GTX Titan which was launched back in February 2013 had set new heights in performance, power and price (obviously). The GeForce GTX Titan is currently the only single chip card which features a 6 GB VRAM but the enthusiast specifications come at a huge price tag of $999 US. It looks like Titan's regime would come to an end in mid of November as NVIDIA takes the battle directly against the Radeon R9 290X with their new GTX 780 Ti graphics card.
From previous reports, we came to know that the GeForce GTX 780 Ti would end up around a similar price point as the GeForce GTX 780 which currently retails at $649. This means that the GeForce GTX 780 itself would get a price cut down to a competitive positing against the Radeon R9 290 which is faster but lacks behind in overclock performance from the benchmarks seen previously. The GeForce GTX 780 Ti would be NVIDIA's next entry into the GeForce lineup as a flagship part competing against the Radeon R9 290X which offers extremely good value and performance currently at only $549 and the non-reference models which launch next month which will cost slightly closer to the $600 US range.
So what happens to the Titan? Possibility is that the card would either be discontinued which seems a bit too early for an NVIDIA graphic card or might just get a price cut but still retail for a higher price due to the higher VRAM which currently only the Titan has to offer. The GeForce GTX 780 Ti would essentially make the Titan obsolete if its faster in performance and even if it does ship with a 3 GB VRAM buffer.
Specifications wise, we don't exactly know what the GeForce GTX 780 Ti may feature at the moment but faster clocks, slightly more cores and a 7 GHz memory clock seem possible though we will see that in the upcoming week.
