Tablet Wars Showdown: The Famous Apple vs Google – Nexus 7 vs iPad Mini Retina

Sohaib Ahmad

While tablets have been around for quite some time, it was the Apple iPad 1 which took the world by storm with its eye catching design and premium iOS operating system, a lot has changed from back then. Google has been pushing tablets into the market as early as 2011. The first Nexus 7 which Google released through Asus was a huge hit, primarily because the price point it targeted was as low as $230. With the new Nexus 7 2013 priced at $200, Apple does not have any product priced similar.

The Apple iPad 2 and the iPad Mni retina start at $400, almost twice the amount of the new Nexus 7.

For double the price, you do not get a huge premium over the Nexus 7, also the point that the mini will be releasing in late November while the Nexus is available right now is a plus point for it.

The processor and Gpu on the iPad mini will be the latest via the 64 bit A7 chipset, while the Snapdragon S4 is no slouch either but u get bragging rights with the iPad mini retina. While the Nexus 7 incorporates NFC, the iPad does not have anything in its arsenal to counter it. NFC aka near field communication is now being used productively via Google wallet and other such means.

It is evident that the Nexus 7 2013 currently is the better buy if u want to take a drive in the tablet territory, with its sweet price point and heightened productivity via quick updates, it is a complete tablet. The iPad has a class of its own, with the smooth iOS coupled with a library of unending apps, it may be a likeness for some.

Although some people are bound to purchase the iPad mini retina for their own reasons, the price factor denotes the Nexus 7 2013 to be the victor.
