Intel 2014 SSD Roadmap Reveals 2 TB P3700 and P3500 Series SSDs

In addition to the SSD details, the Intel 2014 SSD Roadmap slides also reveal that Intel is indeed going to feature a new heatsink design on their P3700 and P3500 series SSDs. VR-Zone was the first to report about the new heat-sink design for the Intel 2014 SSD lineup which had to be updated due to the added number of NAND Flash chips to achieve the  higher density. Each drive enclosure would feature two separate PCBs, one will be populated entirely with NAND while the other will feature additional NAND and memory controller. The design would be 2.5 inch form factor and will require 25W of power under maximum load. We can also note the aluminum heat-sink layout at the bottom of these drives.

Intel's top of the line enterprise SSD P3700 series would be codenamed Fultondale and be available in sizes that range from 250 GB upto 2 TB. The P3700 series features the 20nm MLC HET NAND flash and boasts sequential reads of 2800 MB/s and writes of 1700 MB/s while the IOPS performance is rated at 450K Read and 150K write 4KRDM. The HET (High Endurance Technology) helps enable 374TB of Endurance for the drive and is backed by a 5 year warranty.

Next up are the SSD P3500 series would be codenamed Pleasentdale and be available in sizes that range from 250 GB upto 2 TB. The P3500 series features the 20nm MLC NAND flash and boasts sequential reads of 2800 MB/s and writes of 1700 MB/s while the IOPS performance is rated at 450K Read and 40K write 4KRDM. It has the endurance of 10 writes per day over 5 years and is backed by a 5 year warranty.

Both of these drives would be available in Q2 2014 in both 2.5" SATA and PCI-Express form factor sporting the new heatsink design for improved stability.

Intel Pro 2500 Series 'Temple Star' SSDs:

Intel would also launch the Pro 2500 series Temple Star SSDs for enterprise market which would be available in M.2 and 2.5" form factors. The SSD would range in different capacities of 80/180/240/360/480GB and have a sequential read and write performance of 540 MB/s and 490 MB/s respectively. These drives would also be backed by a 5 year warranty.
