VGX 2013: All Game Trailers And News Pile Up

Spike TV held VGX 2013, a video game award show, yesterday. The show was also broadcasted online. Highlights from the three-hours show include three new game announcements from two different studios i.e. “No Man’s Sky” from Hello games and “Tales From The Boarderlands” and “Game Of Thrones” from Telltale Games and new game details and trailers for The Division, The Witcher 3, Titanfall and more.

As expected, various publishers and developers showcased their video games at VGX 2013. Many trailers for upcoming games were shown at the show and new details about the games such as Titanfall, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Quantum break and Broken Age were released. Below is all the news along with game trailers from Spike’s VGX video game award show.

Game Of Thrones

Developer of The Walking Dead game, Telltale Games was reported to be working on a game that is based on HBO television series, Game Of Thrones. The studio confirmed the report during VGX 2013 and also released a trailer for the game.

In an interview following the release of announcement trailer for Game Of Thrones, Dan Connors, CEO of Telltale Games said, "We'll be taking advantage of all the fiction to make something great. We're just really getting into it right now and thinking about characters — who has the most at stake, who has the biggest impact on the world."

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

Square Enix has announced Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, a new version of Tomb Raider game that was released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and was created as a reboot to the franchise. The game has been “re-built specifically for the next-gen consoles”.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition would be released on February 28, 2014 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game is priced at $59.99 and is already available for preorders. The game will run native at 1080p resolution and will provide enhanced realistic characters, environments and enemies. The game will also provide realistic hair simulation and motion with TRESS FX technology.

“Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is so named as it’s exactly what we’ve custom built for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 system consoles. The new hardware let us finally express the original vision in all of its glory,” said Scott Amos, executive producer at crystal dynamics. “This was a continued labor of love. We pulled the game apart and rebuilt it with painstaking detail to add enhanced visual storytelling but without changing the award-winning tale. The end result is a cinematic living world. We can’t wait for fans and newcomers alike to experience this rebuilt epic adventure.”

Destiny

Bungie, owner of multi-billion dollar franchise, is working on a brand new IP, Destiny, a multiplayer sci-fi first person shooter game. A new trailer for the game was premiered yesterday at VGX 2013.

The new trailer of the game focuses on extensive in-game content. The trailer shows a lot of new weapons, enemies and characters, it also explores the worlds of Destiny and gives a taste of the game’s music.

Bungie recently announced the release date of Destiny. The game would be launched on September 9, 2014 and would be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

No Man’s Sky

Hello Games, the developer of Joe Danger series, announced its next-gen game titled as No Man’s Sky at VGX 2013. The game will feature a procedurally generated, massively multiplayer, sci-fi world. In the brief reveal trailer, No Man’s Sky was shown to be an exploration game. Every planet and every galaxy in the game contains unexplored territories and the player will be able to explore different planets, under water environments, skies and outer space.

"It's a huge game. We wanted to make a game about exploration. And we wanted to make something that was real,” said Sean Murray of Hello Games.

Titanfall

Respawn Entertainment revealed the second Titan class in developer’s new upcoming video game, Titanfall. The studio had previously revealed an agile unit of the Atlas class. New Titan class, the Orge was revealed in some clips of new gameplay footage. The Orge is a huge and slow beast that is equipped with heavy armor. It can be seen in the trailer below.

At the end of VGX show, another/third Titan class, The Stryder was revealed in a second trailer of the game. The Stryder is rather fast than all other Titans and possess better acceleration and speed, the Titan is also light armored compared to other Titans. The gameplay footage also features a battle between a Stryder and an Orge, watch the trailer below.

Titanfall would be released on March 11, 2014 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and Xbox 360. According to Electronic Arts, publisher of the game, the title will remain exclusive to these platforms forever.

Quantum Break

Remedy Entertainment revealed the first gameplay footage of Quantum Break, an Xbox One exclusive title, at VGX 2013. The footage shows the manipulation powers of the game that allows the player to quickly speed forward in time while the rest of the world in the game stays in normal time. According to the developer, next-gen hardware allows the game to deliver deep realistic faces and high-end performances.

Story of Quantum Break begins with a time-based science experiment that goes wrong affecting two characters of the game namely, Jack Joyce and Beth Wilder. The experiment has left an error in time, which causes it to freeze as well as jump back and forth. The player then fights against a corporation called Monarch Industires using either one of the playable characters.

Quantum Break would be released somewhere in 2014, exclusively for Xbox One.

Tom Clancy’s The Division

Ubisoft released a short teaser trailer for Tom Clancy’s The Division ahead of VGX awards show promising that it will reveal more about the game’s engine at VGX 2013. Below is the trailer that was revealed during the VGX show.

The game is developed with Snowdrop Engine, which promises to deliver an unmatchable level of detail and realism. In a new video released yesterday at VGX show, Ubisoft claims that, “Never before has a video game reached this level of detail."

According to Ubisoft, “The Snowdrop Engine is capable of capturing light realistically via a volumetric lighting system, which will help establish a more believable atmosphere. The game engine also powers The Division's procedural destruction elements.”

The game would be released in fall 2014 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows. The game would also get some Xbox One exclusive content.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

CD Projekt Red debuted a new trailer of its up coming next-game game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at VGX 2013. The gameplay trailer features the protagonist of The Witcher series, Geralt. The trailer plays forward as Geralt explores the massive and vast open world of the game, which is said to be 30 times larger than The Witcher 2. The character also fights men and beasts with both sword and sorcery.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is being built with new RedEngine 3. The game would be released in 2014 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Thief (Reboot)

Edios Montreal, the studio that created Dues Ex: Human Revolution, is developing a new Thief game that would be considered as a reboot to the franchise. Thief is an action-adventure video game that mainly focuses on stealth and robberies. Garrett, the protagonist of the game is a master thief who intends to steal from the rich.

A new trailer of the game was premiered at VGX on December 7. The trailer shows the background of Garrett, which frames the reason of his robberies and stealing. The game is due out on February 25, 2014 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

A new companion app for Thief was also announced at VGX that would release along side the game. Those who preordered the game from Gamestop retailers would receive the companion app for free. Using the companion app, players would be able to access leaderboards, read in-game notes and newspapers and keep a track of their in-game progress.
