While the tech world remained focused on Nexus duo launch, Samsung secretly added a new product in its processors category. The new Exynos 7 Octa features four Cortex-A57 cores and another four Cortex-A53 for heaving and light tasks, respectively. This design helps the SoC to maintain energy distribution in efficient manner increasing the battery life. If you remember, this is the same detailing that we have previously seen in the Korean version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Note 4's Exynos Octa 5 (5433) also carries 8 cores divided for heavy lifting and lighter tasks. While the Exynos 7 Octa may not be another name of Exynos 5433, it does look quite similar to earlier processor which has some stellar benchmark numbers through Galaxy Note 4.
Samsung releases Exynos 7 Octa:
Built on the now-popular, 20nm manufacturing process, Samsung's latest Exynos 7 Octa might just be a re-branding tactic for Exynos 5433 which was very silently released even though the processor deserved much attention and gained following in the preceding months. Details of the SoC do look almost identical to that of Exynos 5433 as not only cores are same but so is the accompanying ARM Mali-T760 graphics processing unit.
The Exynos 7 Octa from Samsung supports 1440 x 2560 and 1600 x 2560 resolutions which we have previously seen with the Galaxy Note 4. Chip is capable of recording high definition video simultaneously with the help of both the back and front cameras. SoC can also output content to a 4K TV at a native resolution. The current SoC from Samsung makes use of the Heterogeneous Multi Processing (HMP) technology making it easy for Samsung to divide load across the cores depending on the energy needs.
There is yet no information shared about the clock speeds, however, Korean tech leader flaunts that we will see a 57 percent increase in the CPU and a 74 percent improvement in graphics department. This is in comparison to the previous Exynos models. However, we have got used to with not focusing so much on the percentage of improvements that OEMs promise. Still, we are going to see some profound performance improvements on this latest Exynos 7 Octa as we have already witnessed some leading performance from Exynos 5433 thanks to the Korean Note 4.
