Apple introduced quite a few new features in OS X Yosemite while making improvements in others. Spotlight in OS X Yosemite is a completely redone feature introducing a new design with more capabilities and features. This guide will help you use Spotlight in OS X Yosemite.

Use Spotlight in OS X Yosemite:

The new Spotlight in OS X Yosemite brings in some new features like unit conversion and place suggestions. Spotlight search brings you a ton of content types. These content types include applications, files, folders, messages, definitions, places, and much more. To open Spotlight in OS X Yosemite,

  • Click the search icon at the top right of the screen; or
  • Press + Space.
