‘GTA V is not ready for Virtual Reality just yet’ – Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two

Gaming is but a form of virtual reality where you take the form of your hero or your kingdom, but recently the concept of "body transfer illusion" is getting increasingly popular in which a brain can be fooled to control someone else's body. And this has resulted in the concept of VR gaming.

Grand Theft Auto not ready for Virtual Reality Jump

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-two interactive (the parent company of the Grand theft auto series) was commented about GTA's part in the new  and building Virtual Reality market. With Oculus rift ready for consumer launch, one would think that major publishers would be lining up to get there share on the VR market. While that may stand true for other host of companies, Take-two interactive's CEO Strauss Zelnick, when asked about the feasibility of GTA on VR, by one of the Bloomberg anchors, responded "Not yet" adding that "We firstly need to see how the headsets roll out and how we can best deliver an experience. We are concerned. We don’t want people getting nauseated. And also, having had the experience, I’m not sure how long you want an immersive headset on your head.”

But he also added that if the customer wanted this experience and if the headsets were successful "we'll be first in line to give it to them." Zelnick was quiet decisive about the idea and lets just say that it will be some time till we see VR  technology in the GTA game. He hinted that he'd prefer waiting it out and saving the tons of money on Research and development on a shaky bet. “We prefer to be a fast follower. No one else can make our intellectual property – only we can. I’m happy to have other people spend loads of dough on R&D,” he said. Take-two's CEO has previously also commented about VR as anti-social in may, but they do not want to be on the back side of this one. Other major companies like EA, and UbiSoft have already started targeting VR, and it might be on the shelves sooner than you think. I, for one can't wait for it.
