Rockstar is already bathing in a vast pool of ten-spots and an awful lot of praise from gamers for its all-time hit, best-selling open world action-packed video game title known as GTA V, but it looks like the developer isn’t planning to lull on that. A new title in the developer’s most critically acclaimed Red Dead western action-adventure is a hot topic, and if an insider at Rockstar is to be believed, it seems like a next-gen sequel for Red Dead Redemption is indeed in development for the latest PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, and the new game will have co-op in the focal point.

Next-Gen Red Dead Title in Development for the Latest Consoles With Focus on Co-Op - Would be a Sequel to Red Dead Redemption

A new title in Rockstar’s famous western action-adventure video game series known as Red Dead is quite inevitable, and rumors regarding it have been flying around for quite some time now. While there’s not an official word on it yet, it looks like the game is already in development at Rockstar studios right now, and according to a user who claims to know of someone inside Rockstar, the next title in the series would be a sequel to the blockbuster Red Dead Redemption with co-op mode in the focal point. Usually, this type of information is simply a naught and is quickly cut off, but the moderator on NeoGAF verified this claim. The user stated:

“So I spoke to an insider at Rockstar who confirmed that Rockstar is indeed developing a sequel to Red Dead Redemption for PS4/Xbox One.”

“Don’t have a lot of concrete details but expect co-op to be integrated and focused on.”

That’s all we have right now, and just as it goes, we should only take this information with a grain of salt, for nothing has been said officially until now. Nevertheless, a sequel to Red Dead Redemption won’t come as surprise, as it has been in rumors for a long time now, and even Zelnick Strauss, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, himself hinted a new Red Dead title earlier this year, saying:

“It’s been our goal not just to preserve and grow the Grand Theft Auto franchise, but also to build other franchises that we think can be permanent, whether that’s the Red Dead franchise or the Borderlands franchise or the BioShock franchise or others, Civilization, for example.”

“Our goal is to try to create permanent franchises, that’s the unique goal in the industry. Our competitors do not see it that way. Our competitors’ view is that our franchise will have a certain life, and at the end of that life, you move onto the next thing, so you better make hay while the sun shines. Our view is to the contrary. The best franchises are permanent franchises. Outside of our business you can look at James Bond, for example.”

Red Dead Redemption, the second title in the Red Dead series, was released back in May 2010 and has sold over 13 million copies worldwide. The next title in the series is yet to be announced. What do you have to say about Red Dead Redemption 2? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
