CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remains one of the highly anticipated and most talked about video game titles coming out next year, and despite the recent 12-week delay in the game’s release, the developer is sure that the upcoming sequel will be received warmly on launch. Amid all the anticipation, it seems like the latest trailer of the game has turned off a number of gamers as reports suggest that it shows an alleged graphics downgrade in the visuals of the upcoming game. However, the developer itself has commented on the topic stating it is actually not the case.

Latest The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Trailer Shows Fairly Downgraded Visuals - CD Projekt Red Says it is Due to Some YouTube Compression Problems

Previously scheduled to arrive in February 2015, CD Projekt Red recently announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is being pushed back by three months and is now set to land on the latest consoles and PC on May 19, 2015. The reason behind the delay is the in-game bugs and glitches that need to be fixed before the production on the last title in the most critically acclaimed open world action role-playing video game series is settled. While the delay is not much of a problem right now for gamers, it seems like a significant amount of players are concerned about the heinous graphics downgrade plague that seems to be affecting the upcoming game.

There have been several reports and rumors about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s visuals being downgraded in past, but the most recent clamor started when the newly released latest trailer of the game reportedly boasted downgraded visuals compared to the previous trailers and gameplay videos. The trailer took a noticeable hit from fans, specifically from PC gamers, as it featured fairly low-resolution environmental and character textures. Since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is advertised as one of the graphically most impressive upcoming games, gamers expect no graphical downgrades or what so ever.

A number of fans shared their complaints and questions on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s official YouTube channel and forums. Some of the fans asked whether this latest trailer was taken from the PC or the console version of the game, while others came up with some comparison screenshots showing the low-resolution textures that, as you can check out in the screenshots provided below, are noticeably downgraded. JohnReese, one of the fans, wrote:

“The downgrade is real. I refused to believe it at first, but it’s pretty obvious now. Still a good trailer though, and I’m sure the game will be amazing nonetheless.”

Reese’s comment, along with all the other flaking reports and comments about this latest trailer of the game, made CD Projekt Red’s Community and Website Coordinator Marcin Momot respond and say:

“I believe some explanation is required here. Unfortunately this time we’ve encountered some horrible YouTube compression problems. At this very moment we are working on fixing this and will upload another version of the trailer as soon as we can. It will present much higher quality. I want to assure you that there will be no downgrade – I see this game every day – it looks stunning.”

Gamersryde has shared a full HD 1080p version of the trailer that you can download from here.

Here are some screecaps from the trailer showing the fairly low-resolution textures. Note that these screens have been captured from the full HD 1080p version of the trailer that’s been shared for download right above.
