NVIDIA GM200 Based Quadro M6000 Possible Specifications Revealed – Features 3072 CUDA Cores, 12 GB VRAM and 6 TFlops Compute

While there was a report I posted a few days ago that NVIDIA might not feature GM200 GPU or any Maxwell chips on their Tesla lineup, it seems like an update to the Quadro lineup is coming relatively soon as specs of the Quadro M6000 which replaces the Quadro K6000 have been listed down by Videocardz. While there's no confirmation to the specifications, it should be noted that the report comes just a week before CES 2015 where the top hardware companies would be unveiling new tech and provide an update on their roadmap for 2015.

NVIDIA Quadro M6000 Pops Up With The GM200 GPU Core - Announcement Alleged For This Month

While Maxwell has already made its way to the Quadro lineup, the cards which were initially launched were based on the GM107 architecture which is the first generation Maxwell core. The upcoming cards will use the high-performance GM200 and GM204 cores while the Tesla lineup as revealed by NVIDIA will be updated next year with the arrival of Pascal GPUs. There's one thing for sure, regardless of NVIDIA not putting full DP support on Maxwell, it is still a great card for gamers and Quadro users with faster single precision performance (FP32).

The specifications were unveiled by Videocardz through a GPU validation which appeared on GPU-Z (via Tech powerup). The card has a device id of 10DE - 17F0. The source believes that the specifications shown on GPUZ and the fact that no Maxwell chip currently has a device id of 17F0, this could indeed be the GM200 GPU which is going to become the flagship chip architecture of the Maxwell lineup and it's a valid point for believing that this is indeed the same GPU.

The specifications of the GPU show that the GM200 GPU features 3072 CUDA Core, up from 2048 on the current GM204 chip. Considering a Maxwell SMM has 128 streaming processors, there's a total of 24 SMM units enabled on the GM200 chip which is going to be fused on the Quadro M6000 GPU. Aside from that, we are looking at 96 Raster operation units and 192/256 TMUs. The card has a pixel fillrate of 94.8 GPixels/s and a texture fillrate of 252.9 GTexels/s. The GPU's clock speeds are maintained at 988 MHz and doesn't feature GPU Boost although these could be preliminary clock speeds and could be changed in the future when the card is officially launched. On the memory side, we are looking at no less than 12 GB GDDR5 VRAM since it replaces the K6000 which featured the same buffer size. The card comes with a 384-bit memory interface and memory clock is maintaned at 6.6 GHz that pumps out 317.4 GB/s.

The specifications do look juicy however it's hard to tell whether this is the fully enabled version of the GM200 core. There's some reason to believe it is since the GK110 based Quadro K6000 was also based on the fully enabled Kepler core however we'll wait till we know more about GM200. Talking about the GeForce side, we will be looking at faster clock speeds and better performance optimization towards games but it is not known when the card launches for the consumer market. The Quadro M6000 itself has an announcement alleged for this month in the form of a paper launch. You can find a specification comparison posted in the chart below:
