The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Official PC Requirements Revealed

Abdullah Awan

Previously when we brought to you the news for Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it was that the game had been delayed due to "the sheer size and complexity of the game" and that the game was locked and was being tested for bugs. And due to the unpolished games released in that time period, gamers took the decision quite well. But finally here it is, a step in the right direction to the release of one of the most anticipated, highly popular games of 2015.

The Official PC Requirements of Witcher 3 Announced Through a Press Release

Make no mistake, these are the official game requirements for Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. CKD projekt red announced these requirements for its new upcoming title through a press release. These requirements are quite a lot and honestly, I'm surprised just by looking at the minimum requirements of the game. Here is what you'll need to play the game on your PC:

Minimum System Requirements

  • Intel CPU Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz
  • AMD CPU Phenom II X4 940
  • Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 660
  • AMD GPU Radeon HD 7870
  • RAM 6GB
  • OS 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)
  • DirectX 11
  • HDD Space 40 GB

Recommended System Requirements

  • Intel CPU Core i7 3770 3.4 GHz
  • AMD CPU AMD FX-8350 4 GHz
  • Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 770
  • AMD GPU Radeon R9 290
  • RAM 8GB
  • OS 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)
  • DirectX 11
  • HDD Space 40 GB

Even for a modern game, these requirements are quite heavy but the AAA title looks like it does not want to lay down on expectations with a blast in the gaming world. Looking at the minimum requirements for the game, a 64-bit system is a definite because of the heavy requirement of RAM usage which is set to a minimum of 6 and a recommended of 8 GB. In the processors area the game shows how demanding it is with a least of an i5-2500K which is a Quad Core processor with a clock speed of 3.3 GHz and a recommend of an i7-3770 clocked at 3.4Ghz. Alongside, you need a mammoth of a graphic card to play this game as a least of GTX 660 is set to be the requirement whereas you need a Nvidia GTX 770 if you want to be creative with your game. The hard disk space required is 40 GB and you need a DirectX 11 to play the game.

The requirements for this game even give Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor a run for its money and that's something to say considering that the game was held down by comments saying that the games requirements were just too high and ridiculous. One thing here is for sure, this game won't come cheap. Yes, the disk might but it'll need you to spend some real dough on your PC just to play this game and enjoy your experience.
