Evo 2015 Will Feature 9 Fighting Games in Total

For those who don't know what it is, Evo (short for evolution) is the world's largest fighting game event which has been held yearly for over a decade now and is a must-attend for fighting game fans and serious gamers around the world. The event Evo also hosts a gamers 'BYOC' (bring you own console) area where gamers can meet, challenge and play games together with the community so as to develop the competition in the gaming market.

The Evo 2015 Event Game List

The list announcement took place over a live stream. The tournament organizer Joey Cuellar announced the list of games to be featured at the Evo 2015. The following list of 9 games was announced for the Evo 2015:

  • Tekken 7
  • Ultra Street Fighter IV
  • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom
  • Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
  • Guilty Gear XRD -SIGN-
  • Killer Instinct
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
  • Super Smash Bros. Melee

Cuellar confirmed that this is, as of now, not the final list for the games to feature at the event. There may possibly be additions or games removed from the list so keep your fingers crossed for more games featuring at the tournament and hope we get more debuts.

Tekken 7 Swipes Away the Headline

Mike Ross, the host of the event, announced the list alongside with Cuellar where the headline was Tekken 7 which will be making its global tournament debut playing on arcade machines. Arcade machines have bevoen absent in the tournament since 2004, after the decision was made to transition towards console gaming in all events. While the release date for Tekken 7 is not yet confirmed, the game will be featuring across many events before and after the Evo 2015. Hence, we can deduce hat there's not a lot of time left in the release of the game which will also be playable on the day before the tournament actually starts on Friday the 17th so the players can get some practice before the event.

Mortal Kombat X will also Make it's Debut at Evo 2015

The 'Evolution' event is very popular in the gaming arena which can be determined by the fact that it pulled almost 2,000 entrants for the Ultra Street Fighter IV last year which has also previously been the most popular game for the event. Joey Cuellar, also known as Mr. Wizard confirmed another unreleased game which is to make it's debut. The presence of Mortal Kombat X by developer Nether Realm Studios will also lift the tournament up as it is a popular figure across the fighting type games and the tenth title to the series.

Justification was also given regarding the two Super Smash titles at the event where Cuellar said they wanted to cater to both the "new blood" playing the Wii U and the older Smash community who still plays Melee.
