With an immense dualism on thought about Apple's gigantic change in its iOS lineup, there are still users who wish to return to the older version, iOS 6. iOS 7 moved mountains in terms of UI overhaul, control and providing more customization than its predecessor. In the meanwhile, a reddit user, e1ghtSpace has some details to downgrade the updated version to the previous iOS 6.1.3 without SHSH blobs. The tool is called OdysseusOTA which can work with devices launched in 2011 or more specifically, the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Both of these devices run on the same A5 chip and can be downgraded to iOS 6.1.3 using the aforementioned OdysseusOTA.
Downgrade iPhone 4S And iPad 2 To iOS 6.1.3, No SHSH Blobs Required
To be more acquainted over the devices that support downgrading to iOS 6.1.3, they should be on iOS 5.0.1 or 5.1.1 previously. This is because Apple is still in works to sign the OTAblobs for the iOS 6.1.3 version. Henceforth, the only two devices to have been on iOS 5.0.1 or 5.1.1 are iPhone 4S and iPad 2, taking into account the last version of iOS 6 was iOS 6.1.6. This command line tool can be used to fulfill users wish to downgrade to the two year old iOS 6.
This tool will only work on devices that have been on iOS 5.0.1 or (possibly) iOS 5.1.1. This means that only the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S is supported.
Why? Because Apple made a mistake in their code and devices that are on one of the two mentioned iOS’s MUST update to iOS 6.1.3 (if they are updating via OTA) in order for their deceive to be able to update to latest iOS version.
Can Apple stop people from using this exploit?
No because then devices on iOS 5.0.1 or iOS 5.1.1 would not be able to update via OTA.
