Warner Bros. Knew That Batman Arkham Knight PC Was A Mess For Months

Kotaku has reported that Warner Bros. was aware of the several number of issues that plagued the PC version of Batman Arkham Knight for months. Kotaku claims that its sources indicate that all the problems that PC gamers encountered in Batman Arkham Knight PC were the exact same, unchanged, almost a year ago.

As Kotaku’s QA source said:

“I will say that it’s pretty rich for WB to act like they had no idea the game was in such a horrible state,” said one quality assurance tester who worked on the game for years. “It’s been like this for months and all the problems we see now were the exact same, unchanged, almost a year ago.”

“We reported literally thousands of bugs that were specific to the PC version relating to the frame rate. All sorts of fucked up texture issues. The Batmobile in particular has always fucked things up on PC.”

The first patch for the PC version of Batman Arkham Knight, which became available a few days ago, fixed a bug which disabled rain effects and ambient occlusion, but did not improve performance nor did it remove the 30fps cap. Although that is promised to follow along with overall performance improvements as listed above.

The release notes of the first PC patch are as follows:

  • Fixed a crash that was happening for some users when exiting the game
  • Fixed a bug which disabled rain effects and ambient occlusion. We are actively looking into fixing other bugs to improve this further
  • Corrected an issue that was causing Steam to re-download the game when verifying the integrity of the game cache through the Steam client
  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when turning off Motion Blur in BmSystemSettings.ini. A future patch will enable this in the graphics settings menu
