[Update] Bandai Namco has announced that Dark Souls 3 will be released in April 2016 in the West, following the Japanese release on March 24. An exact date has not been specified yet but we will keep you informed of any updates.

The Japanese release date of Dark Souls 3 has been confirmed for March and thanks to the special Japanese Premiere event which was held a few days ago, some videos taken during this event have become available, showcasing some very impressive gameplay sequences. The quality is not the best, but the gameplay does demonstrate both the visual improvements and faster pace of the latest iteration.

Dark Souls 3 has been confirmed to be using YEBIS 2, a well-known post-effects middleware by Silicon Studios, enabling bloom, motion blur, depth of field, as well as optical simulation of camera lenses and more. From Software used YEBIS 2  for Bloodborne with some very impressive results, and is said that it will “greatly improve” the post effects from the previous games in the Dark Souls series.

Dark Souls 3 is being directed by the mastermind creator Hidetaka Miyazaki himself

Dark Souls 3 is under development by acclaimed Japanese studio From Software and directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. Dark Souls 3 is the latest chapter in the critically acclaimed Dark Souls series which will take players across a wide variety of locations in an interconnected world.

“The DARK SOULS brand became a phenomenon thanks to amazing work from our dear partners From Software and our very own BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment teams”. said Herve Hoerdt, Vice President of Marketing & Digital at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe. “But above all, we are blessed to have such a supportive and loving community, and we are happy to dedicate this final episode to them!”

Dark Souls 3 will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC early 2016. We will bring you any new information on Dark Souls 3 as soon as it becomes available.
