Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Trailer Arrives

The newest trailer for Kingdom Hearts and the first for Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue is here, and it has a slightly serious tone underneath the cute Disney inspired action.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 trailer gives us action packed gameplay and a glimpse into the future.

The trailer shows us what the newly minted remaster will look like, giving us glimpses into Dream Drop Distance and also showing us some of the action from within Back Cover, scenes that are from Unchained X. The best part of the trailer, however, is the end, where we see some enlightening scenes from Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage, the new content that's been added to bridge the gap to Kingdom Hearts III.

The announcement yesterday was quite interesting, and certainly somewhat unexpected. With a few remasters that bring together all of the previous titles, a completely new game that does the same is an interesting bet. Is it purely a money grab? I don't think so. As a franchise, despite the kiddish setting and liberal use of Disney characters, the underlying story is absolutely fascinating and engaging. By releasing on the PS4 it allows a wider audience to enjoy what might have been missed on the PS3. Is it fair, though, that the exclusive new content is purely a part of the game? That is likely a business decision, and a smart one, despite not lining up with what fans necessarily want.

Regardless, it does bring Kingdom Hearts into the forefront and lets us remember the fun we might have inevitably had with Sora and Goofy. Who doesn't want to fight Sephiroth once again?
