In the world of mobile chipsets,  things have started to move rather quickly. Manufacturers seem eager to upgrade their processors as soon as possible, pushing performance barrier further and further. This increased competition and advanced has led towards a lot of options available for the everyday consumer to choose their processor from. And speaking of diversity; Huawei's Kirin lineup of processors have been gaining increasing popularity over the past couple of days, and today we've got some more information about the Kirin 950.

Huawei's Kirin 950 Sees Specs And Benchmarks Leak With Whispers Of October Launch

Huawei's had a busy year so far when it comes to processors, as the company's managed to build quite an impressive portfolio for itself. Today we get to learn some more details about the company's Kirin 950 processor, which will be the latest in flagship silicon from the company. As can be seen in the image above, the Huawei Kirin 950 will be coming with 8 cores on board, following big.LITTLE principles.

Four of these cores will be ARM's Cortex A53, coupled with four more Cortex A72 cores. Even though manufacturers such as Samsung and Qualcomm seem to be moving towards custom core designs, seems like Huawei's going to be using ARM's core designs in its upcoming processor. Aside from its CPU, the Kirin 950 will also be coming with ARM's Mali T880 and dual-channel LPDDR4 RAM. Both of these features are top of the line when it comes to mobile processors, and any device with them should perform very well in the flagship department.

The Dual-channel LPDDR4 RAM for the Kirin 950 will be able to support frequencies up to 25.6GB/s and the processor will also be coming with dual ISPs on board, capable of supporting camera resolutions up to 42 MP. The co-processor for the chipset will be an i7 chip which will include support for security, sensor hub and connectivity.

LTE Cat. 10 will also be making it on board for the Kirin 950, in addition to UFS 2.0 and eMMC 5.1 for memory compatibility. What's more interesting is NFC support also having been mentioned today, which marks the spread of mobile based payments across different manufacturers. Guess we'll have to wait and see whether Huawei's upcoming devices expected to feature the Kirin 950 will come with mobile payments or not.

4K recording and USB 3.0 complete the Kirin 950's specs leak today and by the looks of things, the upcoming SoC from the manufacturer will be quite an offering indeed. We'll have to wait and see whether launch details of Q3/Q4 stand out for the processor, and if they do, then Samsung and Qualcomm will be having some high bars to cross for their respective processors as well. So stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section below.
