SOMA – PC vs. PS4 Graphics Comparison 1080p 60fps

SOMA, the new horror adventure from the creators of the acclaimed Amnesia and Penumbra series, has released to great reviews from most major publications. Holding a very impressive 85% over at Metacritic, SOMA more than lives up to the great standards of its predecessors. Polygon describes SOMA as "a stronger game than Amnesia, with better pacing, smarter writing and more powerful subject matter". The game is available for the PlayStation 4 and PC and it does offer an equally great experience on both systems.

YouTube's Candyland has released a video comparison of the two versions, which can be viewed below. As Candyland explains the PC Graphics Settings are very simple, enabling only on or off options for most settings. The video does go into some detail, examining settings such as refraction, Ambient Occlusion, anti-aliasing, shadows and more. Not much difference is apparent despite some shadow detail, with the PS4 version set on "High" rather than on "Very High" quality. PS4 does showcase some performance issues, however, such as minor stuttering while autosaving, whith the game pausing for a short time. The PC system features an Intel Core i7 4770K 3.50 GHz, 16 GB DDR3 RAM and a GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB.

SOMA is a sci-fi horror game from Frictional Games, creators of the groundbreaking Amnesia and Penumbra series

Frictional Games explain:

“Five years ago, SOMA started as a simple idea; to make a game that would explore the more disturbing aspects of what it means to be a conscious being. Since then, we have gone through years of iterations, lots of hard work and almost tripled the size of our team. And finally, today, the game is done. We are very proud of how it has turned out, and feel that we have achieved what we set out to do. It has easily been the most ambitious project we have undertaken, and getting to this point has been quite a struggle. We hope people find SOMA to be a creepy and provocative experience that stays with them long after playing.”

SOMA is available on the PlayStation 4 and PC. We will bring you any new information on SOMA as soon as it becomes available.
