More Kirin 950 Benchmarks Appear – Exynos 7420 And Snapdragon 810 No Longer The Top Dogs

Kirin 950 has been making waves to being a very powerful SoC, thanks to its octa-core processor, and now, additional benchmarks show how easily the chipset is able to zip past Exynos 7420, the 14nm FinFET chip developed by none other than Samsung.

Here Are The Leaked Benchmarking Scores Of Kirin 950 – Single And Multi-Core Tests Present

According to the benchmarking scores (image given below), Kirin 950 is not just able to overwhelm Exynos 7420 in the single-core tests, but in the multi-core tests as well. Given below are the Geekbench score comparisons between the two chipsets.

Kirin 950

  • Single-core test: 1,710 points
  • Multi-core test: 6,245 points

Exynos 7420

  • Single-core test: 1,486 points
  • Multi-core test: 4,970 points

That is quite a difference between Samsung’s 14nm FinFET SoC, which at one point, was unchallenged for quite a long period. Kirin 950 is processed on the 16nm FinFET process, and according to the specifications present in the image, the chipset is running a processor at a speed of 1.80GHz. This could probably be because of testing purposes, because only yesterday, we posted a GFXBench image of Huawei Mate 8 running a Kirin 950 with one-half of the octa-core processor running at 2.2GHz.

However, other details are spot on, such as the device featuring 4GB of RAM and running Android Marshmallow 6.0. Additionally, Kirin 950 is also going to feature the following:

  • A dedicated DSP audio co-processor called a Tensilica Hi-Fi 4 DSP, to satisfy audio quality and performance.
  • i7 (not to be confused with Intel’s Core-i7), which will act as a sensor, connectivity, and security hub, and will take care of the less intensive tasks in order to provide more breathing room for the primary octa-core CPU.

Kirin 950 will also be providing support for dual-channel LPDDR4 RAM, UFS 2.0, and eMMC 5.1 storage, and just so you know, these happen to be the latest version amongst their respective categories. Before we forget, smartphone camera aficionados are going to have the time of their lives with future Huawei handsets because Kirin 950 will also support up to a 42 MP camera sensors. However, from what we know, the upcoming Huawei Mate 8 is going to be sport a 16MP rear shooter, so it will definitely be a while before we can see camera sensors of this magnitude present in mobile devices.

More connectivity options include a Category 10 LTE modem, USB 3.0 interface and last but certainly not least, Bluetooth 4.2. We expect that the announcement date of Kirin 950 is going to be November 5, so we are hoping that Huawei Mate 8 is going to be announced alongside it. Are you guys excited to see the real-world performance of the 16nm FinFET chipset? Let us know your thoughts right away.
