Rumor Suggests Apple Will Debut Colorful Metal iPhone 6c In February

As per the data gathered from various sources, including Foxconn, Apple's 4-inch iPhone 6c does not follow the footsteps of its predecessor. The iPhone 5c featured a polycarbonate shell which will probably be ditched for a metal design in the forthcoming iPhone 6c. Furthermore, the TechWeb cites that the latter will make an appearance in January of 2016 and hit the shelves one month later. Previous Foxconn sources claim that the production cycle for the iPhone 6c is now complete. The news makes perfect sense for a February launch of Apple's 4-inch iPhone.

iPhone 6c To Debut In February With A Colorful Metal Body?

The rumor comes in from a sketchy Chinese site, TechWeb who cites some unnamed ''insiders'' claiming that the iPhone 6c will feature an anodized aluminium housing instead of the plastic casing. The aluminium iPhone 6c will be available in a handful of colors. Furthermore, the 4-inch iPhone will be outfitted with Touch ID, but 3D Touch will not be included. Since, it is a midrange iPhone for users, it makes perfect sense for Apple to leave 3D Touch exclusive to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

The internal specifications of the 4-inch iPhone boasts Apple's A8 chip on board. The processor goes on par with the Cupertino's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. As a result, launching the iPhone 6c in 2016 will likely affect less on the popularity aspect of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. As for the pricing details, Apple is aiming to charge its 4-inch iPhone between $400 and $500 in the United States. The retail price of the previous iPhone 5c was $549 for the unlocked version.

Nonetheless, the rumor should be viewed with skepticism. We still hope the rumor is true since many of us are due for an upgrade. The 4-inch iPhone would really be appreciated by users with smaller hands. Moreover, the TechWeb also cites that Foxconn has yet to receive orders from Apple to commence mass production of the iPhone 6c. If the iPhone 6c is to launch in February, the Cupertino manufacturer needs to order it soon.

Another report published earlier cites that Apple is testing five different prototypes of the iPhone 7, each with a different set of hardware trait. The prototypes include features such as, multi-touch Force Touch, USB-C, dual cameras, wireless charging and an in-display Touch ID.

This is it for now, folks. What do you think about the iPhone 6c? Will it be a popular midrange iPhone with a 4-inch display or will it be a disappointment? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
