New Kirin 950 Benchmarking Scores Show That Huawei Is Working On A Revised Chipset – Faster Than Original SoC

Omar Sohail

With our latest benchmarking findings, Kirin 950 is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and Huawei is definitely not planning to stop there, because according to the latest benchmarking leak courtesy of Geekbench, the Chinese smartphone giant is planning to exceed the performance capabilities of its Kirin 950 chipset with a revised edition. Let us take a look at the benchmarking scores and see for ourselves.

Kirin 950 Revised Edition Could Be Present In Huawei P9 Family

According to the benchmarking leak from Geekbench, the chipset manages to obtain a single-core test result of 2018 points, and it performs even better in the multi-core test, as it should thanks to the presence of eight powerful cores; in total these eight cores are able to obtain a score a 7313 points. According to the benchmarking results, the clock speed of the processor is running at a frequency of 1.80GHz, but according to the previous specification sheets of Kirin 950, Cortex-A72 is running at a speed of 2.53GHz, meaning that the low clock speed is definitely showing the speed of the remaining Cortex-A53 cores that are running in ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture. In short, the octa-core processor configuration of Kirin 950 is given as follows:

  • 4 x Cortex-A72 cores running at a speed of 2.53GHz
  • 4 x Cortex-A53 cores running at a speed of 1.80GHz

While the following has not been confirmed, it is highly possible that the revised version of Kirin 950 is running its four Cortex-A72 cores at a much higher frequency as compared to those running in the original version. This is possibly one of the reasons why this particular revision is able to obtain a much higher score, but we will be updating you on this front as more leaks pour out. For now, we expect that if Huawei is actually working on such an SoC, then it will be present in the company’s P9 family, which comprises of the following (please note that it is not confirmed if the Chinese OEM will actually be working on these models, but since the company released three models in the past, we should automatically assume that it is going to be rolling out three new models in the near future as their successors).

With the release of these three smartphones, Huawei will be targeting each segment of the market, so let us hope that the prices are more or less equal to what we have laid out as estimates. Are you excited for the launch of Huawei P9 and its counterparts? Let us know your thoughts.
