Painkiller Developer Announces World War 3, F2P Unreal 4 Shooter

I bet you thought that when World War 3 was announced, it'd come through the UN or via a picture of Vladimir Putin wrestling a troop of girl scouts. Instead, Painkiller Hell & Damnation developer The Farm 51 decided to beat everybody to it and have named their next free-to-play shooter just that. Put your shirt back on, Putin.

World War 3 will be set in a modern day conflict and will feature authentic military gear, real-life locations and genuine armies.

Team work will be a must, with the Deadfall Adventure devs promising innovative methods of interaction between players when it comes to strategic planning. They said that cooperation will be absolutely essential, although that probably won't stop me attempting to one-man 360 no-scope my way through the entire Swiss army (who we assume will be heavily represented).

Vehicles will be included, and the developers are saying there will be an element of environmental risks, although details on that seem to be sparse at this point.

It'll be free to play and is being powered by the Unreal Engine 4. While that doesn't quite guarantee beautiful graphics, it's at least a step in the right direction. Platforms haven't been announced, so at this point presume PC.

How long will you have to wait for World War 3? The developers reckon it will take another two years of brewing, putting it somewhere in the space of late 2017, early 2018.
