The Witcher 3 Composer Returns For Cyberpunk 2077; First Attempts Made

Aernout van de Velde

Marcin Przybylowicz, composer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, will be returning for CD Projekt Red’s upcoming action role-playing game, Cyberpunk 2077.

A few days ago we reported on how the upcoming The Witcher 3 DLC, Blood and Wine, will get completely new music, created from scratch. According Przybylowicz, the team is not using any pieces that have been written before, because of a completely new area, new characters, and a new plot. The composer added that due to these new features, the Blood and Wine expansion deserves to have music written from scratch.

Apart from a new completely new music for Blood and Wine, Przybylowicz will also be returning to compose the music for CD Projekt Red’s upcoming action RPG, Cyberpunk 2077. The composer said as much during an interview with Gamepressure (the same interview in which he confirmed the new music for Blood and Wine).

Przybylowicz was asked whether he has been thinking about Cyberpunk 2077 already, after which he responded that his superiors already “force me to do ” so.

“My superiors already force me to do it, because I spend most of my time with Geralt; however, some first attempts with Cyberpunk were already made”.

Cyberpunk 2077 even more ambitious than initially planned

CD Projekt Red has been working on Cyberpunk 2077 for a long time. It’s a completely different reality, set in the future, with corporations and a morally gray world. The release date for the game has already been planned, according CD Projekt Red. It won’t be announced, though, until they are ready to start the game’s marketing campaign.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be far, far bigger than The Witcher 3, and according CD Projekt Red, the game is turning out to be even more ambitious than initially planned.

“The project is even more ambitious than we first planned (…) we need to create a game that will be even more successful. (…) We have a long way ahead of us to reach the biggest commercial successes in the world. Sure, many people consider The Witcher 3 to be the best game in the world this year, but this is not a game that broke any sales record”, CEO Adam Kicinski said during an interview with Polish TV station TVN24 BiS.
