Google Photos For iOS Now Lets You Backup Live Photos To The Cloud

If you're an iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus user, then we're pretty sure that you're well aware about Live Photos, Apple's marque feature on its newest flagship handsets. The feature essentially allows you to add life to your photos by recording a small video alongside the still image. Simply hard press on the display with the photo in view, and it will come to life.

Today, you'll be pleased to learn that Google Photos has added support for backing up Live Photos as well, and view them right from the app itself without much fuss. Previously, it wasn't possible, and the app was limited to uploading plain photos and videos.

The great thing about this update is that you don't have to set up anything at all. Simply update the Google Photos for iOS app from the App Store, and you're good to go. The app will automatically start to backup Live Photos once you're done.

Apart from Live Photos, the Google Photos for iOS app has added support for Split View on the iPad, and to top things off, iPad Pro support has also been added to the roster, so you can rest assured that you're covered across the board.

Performance improvements are also the order of the day, and we're pretty sure that Google has thrown in the usual bug fixes under the hood as well, so that's reason enough to update the Google Photos for iOS app right away.

The complete changelog is as follows:

• Improved app navigation, so you can spend less time flipping hamburger menus
• Back up and view Live Photos
• Reduced cache usage when your device is low on space
• iPad Split View and iPad Pro support
• Performance improvements

If not, then simply launch the App Store from your home screen, tap on the 'Updates' tab at the bottom and update right away.
