Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have received major improvements over their predecessors and it is highly possible that a Galaxy S7 Active variant could be rolling out in the near future.
Latest Galaxy S7 Leak Shows That Device Will Be Exclusive To AT&T
In many ways, Galaxy S6 Active was better than the regular version of the Samsung’s previous generation flagship family, indicating that if its successor is rolled out to AT&T, it too will feature hardware specifications that will eclipse the regular versions of these newly release smartphones. Starting off, Galaxy S6 was severely criticized for having a smaller battery capacity, and Samsung replied to those critics with not a witty comeback, but with a Galaxy S6 Active smartphone.
The smartphone not only packed a larger 3,500mAh cell inside its hood, it had also passed several certifications such as the following:
- IP68 certified: Dust and water resistant up to 1.5 meter and 30 minutes
- MIL-STD-810G certified: Salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistant
Now, despite the fact that Galaxy S7 is IP68 certified, it does not have a rugged chassis, meaning that it will not be able to survive a hefty amount of wear and tear as opposed to the ‘Active’ variant of the smartphone. According to Evan Blass, a known leakster tweeting from the micro-blogging social network, has stated that the model number SM-G891A in testing at AT&T is known as the Samsung Poseidon. This could mean a number of things, but the closest speculation is that the above mentioned name could be just another name for Galaxy S7 Active.

While both newly announced smartphones pack larger battery capacities, there is always that little voice at the back of your head telling you that you need to see something bigger, and we are hoping to see a 4,000mAh cell in the upcoming version, if Samsung has any intentions of releasing such a model. No changes are going to be made to the remaining hardware, as the device is already impressive.
