According to industry sources, the tech giant is intending on applying the technology to the following components:

  • Radio frequency (RF)
  • Connectivity chips (wireless LAN, Bluetooth)

New RF Tech Expected To Be Incorporated Inside iPhone 7 – Despite Being Thinner, The Device Is Said To Pack A Larger Battery

A Chinese media has reported that Apple has partnered with Japanese manufacturers to produce what is called an ASM, or Antenna Switching Module. This module will not only effectively reduce the overall thickness of the upcoming handset, but will reduce signal loss as well. According to industry insiders, the ASM will support multiple frequencies and since the circuit is going to be smaller in size, it will give assemblers more breathing room in producing a thinner iPhone.

Not only this, but we also reported that Apple’s iPhone 7 will feature an ‘edge to edge’ display. This shows that Apple can also reduce the overall bezels of its future flagship, making it much simpler to use for the consumer. Despite being thin in its overall form factor, the battery capacity of the smartphone is also said to be larger than its predecessors. During September 2015, Apple made a slight compromise in the battery capacity department; by placing smaller cells in its iPhone 6s and 6s Plus as compared to its 2014 iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Hopefully, this year, we will get to see improvement from this category, as the last report stated that iPhone 7 will come with 256GB of internal storage as its highest capacity model, along with a 3,100mAh battery, suggesting that iPhones coming in 2017 and 2018 will have even larger capacities. As for the remaining hardware specifications, we believe that the device will come sporting a dual-camera setup.
